Bad breath, also known as halitosis, can be caused by various factors, such as poor oral hygiene, diet, or underlying health issues. Most of the time, bacteria become trapped in hard-to-reach crevices within the mouth, such as between teeth, gum pockets, around orthodontic appliances, or under dentures.

Q & A TIME!

Q: “How does stress affect my oral health?” ️
A: Stress can take a toll on your pearly whites in many ways! When stress builds up we may unknowingly clench our jaw or grind our teeth. This can lead to worn enamel, jaw pain and even headaches.
Stress weakens our immune system, making it harder for our bodies to fight off infections.
This includes gum disease, which can result in bleeding gums, inflammation, and bad breath.
Under stress, we often turn to unhealthy coping mechanisms like sugary snacks or neglecting oral hygiene routines. These choices can pave the way for tooth decay and other oral issues.

What is Gum Disease and how is it caused?

A: Gum disease is an infection that damages the soft tissues around the teeth (gums). In severe cases it can also damage the bone holding the teeth in place. Causing teeth to become wobbly & even fall out!
It is caused by poor oral health and lack of flossing. Factors that increase the risk of gum disease are smoking, vaping, pregnancy, and more!
The signs & symptoms of irritated gums/gum disease are swollen puffy red gums, they easily bleed when brushing, bad breathe, painful chewing and new spaces that develop between the teeth or receding gums!
We recommend a professional clean from your dentist every 6 months, daily flossing, & brushing every day and night. Make sure to brush those gums lightly too!
